The Shrine: Under Construction

Remember when the Fish and Mr. Chris Lake sold out the Shrine (2/21/19) in 5 minutes?? LOL. And then booked a second show (2/22/19) and sold that out in 10 minutes?? And then a third show (2/23/19) and sold that out!!! Fucking crazzzzy.

I originally got 3 tickets for the first show which was on a Thursday and ended up exchanging with a friend for Friday night tickets. I knew going into it the hype probably wouldn’t be as crazy for the second show then the first or third but Friday night it was!!!

This was actually going to be my first show at the Shrine in LA. I previously had a ticket to see Alison Wonderland in Fall of 2018 at the Shrine with Connor but then he broke up with me LOL (also ran into him at this event...) and I had to sell it.

But overall, I was happy with my first impression of the Shrine. Just a very large, long venue that can fit thousands of people. Very plain which makes it a good venue for an amazing stage design.

The theme was Under Construction. SO YES DUHHH Alyssa and I dressed to the theme. We had hard hats, construction vests, and ordered construction “party” signs off of Amazon and glued them to rulerz in hopes that we would make Fisher or Chloe’s (Fish's fiancee) IG story. We also bought not 1 or 2 plastic hard hats, but 12!! We passed em out the entire night hoping other people would be down!

I am glad we went on Friday instead of the first Thursday show because I guess people got there so late that the lines to get in were incredibly long. They sent out a memo saying to make sure to get there early so you would not wait in the long lines. Naturally we got there right when Chris Lake and Fisher started and probably only had to wait about 25-30 minutes to get. Security had metal detectors which was good and searched bags. Chapstick and opened packs of gum were not allowed in. But, there were no pat-downs so everyone was doing da da drugzzz.

As you walk in there is a lobby area where people were snapping photos and then a long aisle filled with multiple bars that was barricaded so you had to walk further down to enter the GA standing area. AND THE FIRST THING THAT CATCHED MY EYE WAS THE DISCO SHARK!! I have a weird obsession with disco ballz like I think they are absolutely beautiful lol and to see the shark for this event and not just hiding in the Yuma Tent at Coachella put a big smile on my face.

The song choice was everything we all expected. Fisher and Chris Lake playing every hit single, a little bit of Anti-Up thrown in there as well as some Green Velvet. It was basically a 2-3 hour house party playing all the tracks we’ve heard over and over again. Really no diversity or cool remixes worth looking into from what I can remember. It is funny and somewhat cool though to see how hyped people or these wannabe house heads get over the song Losing It.

This was also around the time I found out Chris Lake ghosts produces for Fisher. LOL. Weirdly, I didn’t even doubt it for a second and wasn’t bothered by it either (because I also discovered previous Fisher did nothing for Cutsnake while Sedz made all the music). Chris Lake’s shit all sounds the same. Makes sense. Fisher is a way better entertainer and I’m gonna be blunt, more attractive than Chris Lake. And together they’re taking the house genre by fuckin strom and making so much fucking CASHHHHH. Smart. And I had heard Fisher did nothing for Cutsnake either. Don't get me wrong though I do love both DJz and they make very catchy songs. I mean Chris Lake (and Walker& Royce ily!!!) inspired the name of this blog!! CLOSE YO EYES DANCE WITH ME!

***UPDATE: LOL AT HOW WE HAVE BEEN HEARING YOU LITTLE BEAUTY FOR OVER A YEAR NOW SO TECHNICALLY RELEASED AND THEN UNRELEASES IT AND THEN PRETENDS IT IS A NEW SINGLE TO RE-RELEASE IT ON MAT 10 2019 AND MAKES SO MANY INSTAGRAM POSTS AND SHIT ABOUT HOW THIS SONG IS ABOUT TO DROP*** like wut
